The first day of junior year is looming, and I have an 8:30 am Finance class to ring it in. In the meantime, I have come to some rather unexpected and important conclusions.
1. I will soon be entering society as a functional being because my tax contributions will vastly increase, therefore my value as a citizen will increase respectively.
2. It is time to settle into relationships. Not boyfriends, but friends. I love meeting new people but with the conclusion of summer came the conclusion that my established friendships are the ones that will be lasting. Along with that, is the realization that friendships take effort-on both ends. And it is time to lay to rest those that are not reciprocated, deceitful, and/or unhealthy. Which does not mean that those relationships have to end altogether, but simple common courtesy can take its place.
3. Being level headed in compromising situations takes purposeful, conscience effort. (And is quite the characteristic to have in your arsenal).
To kick of the school year, Dr. Danielle Babb answered the question "Why get an education? How do you convince anyone you are worth anything if you don't invest in yourself?"

This should be interesting
A friend introduced me to blogging, and I have thought about it for awhile. Finally, while lying in bed all day after getting all 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled, I went for it. So, here goes (brace yourself):
About me, I am an entering junior at Binghamton University's School of Management from Cicero, NY (just outside Syracuse). I love the school, great professors, interesting classes, and a lot of real world learning. The administration, however, could use some serious help- but that's another story entirely. I come from a big Italian family that I live for and just couldn't imagine life without. I have 4 brothers, and am second in line. I am the first one in my family to go to college, so they're all pretty proud. (I think, so they say).
Outside of family I have two best girlfriends that I couldn't have prayed for from high school; Jill and Emily, and two great girlfriends from college that I got really lucky to find; Janan and Sammi. I am an outoging person, and have many friends, but am not one of those that has 15 best girlfriends, I just don't think that is possible. I am blessed with the friends that I do have and couldnt ask for more, nor would I want more. Friendships take work and effort, and the fewer close friends you have, the stronger those friendships become in my opinion.
I also have a boyfriend but I am single, as we both like to joke, Ian. We have had a great summer and I could write an entire post on the fun things we have done so far. To name a few; Harry Potter marathon preceding the 6th movie at midnight, Seadoos, Darien Lake, Dave Matthews Band (front and center!! ) a wedding with his family, and a dinner cruise just to name a few. I have so much "foon" with him I didn't think it was even possible. I'm definitely going to miss this summer. He is moving me into school later today, and taking care of my swollen self all night, I am so lucky to have him around =]
This summer has also been a great one for other reasons, it is the first time I have spent a summer home since going away to college. I spent last summer in Philly interning in accounting/ finance and while it was great exposure and I learned so much from amazing people, I just knew the field wasn't right for me, so I pursued Marketing instead. I actually landed an internship with MSG this summer in NYC, but for a boatload of reasons it just didn't work out. At first I was really bummed for missing the opportunity, but my girlfriends made this summer amazing nonetheless. I ended up working at the best barbeque joint around, a Syracuse staple, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and met some awesome people and made a few great friends. I really missed the girls, not being able to see them at school, so being home with them was great. My best, Emily actually just got engaged to her super long time boyfriend Ajay (while in Ireland!) and we threw her and engagement party at the turning stone. I can't say that we did any adventurous wild fun things this summer, but just being with them more and catching up was the best. Whether it was laying poolside, shopping, getting a movie, making dinner, wedding dress shopping!!!! or going out to eat, things are just so easy with them and I love it. I know these girls are my forever girlfriends. It makes me excited to go back to school and see Sammi and Janan again, so we can have that same fun again too- I definitely miss them!
I'll keep you posted on life and such periodically, I hope I have sparked some interest and you continue to read =]
